A call for ideas As most readers of the AHCA Northeast Region newsletter may have noted, the year 2002 is the 50th Anniversary of the cars we know and love - The Healey. In an effort to get our club to help celebrate this historic event, I am calling for ideas from individual club members on how we as a club can celebrate. Some things I am pursuing are: A write up in the Boston Globe by Automobile Columnist Royal Ford (He has expressed interest; once we have a sizable gathering). Participation in car shows around the region (British and General Events). Some that have expressed interest are Greenwich Concours d'elegance (Greenwich, CT), Owls Head Transportation Museum (Owls Head Maine). I also will look into having a T or Golf shirt (Both?) created to commemorate the occasion. Another idea I would like to pursue is the possibility of having Mr. Cocker the designer of the Healey and Sprite attend any celebration we might have. These are some of the ideas I have been working on (Thanks to Rich McKernan for the suggestions!) Do you have any Ideas? Or suggestions on how to celebrate the 50th anniversary? Do you have any historic photos for a brochure or some history of the club? If so please feel free to contact me at lsyoung@primushost.com or call me at 508-435-3119. Thanks, Larry Young and Happy Healeying!!! Also, David Machaiek, the curator at the Owls Head Transportation Museum in Owls Head Maine is looking for early Sports Cars for an exhibit to start in 2002 entitled "Sports Cars", if you are interested please contact him at the Museum or at dmachaiek@ohtm.org. He would want to have your classic in the Museum for two years. |
